Signal are immensely proud to once again support the Spirit of Normandy Trust in its important work, as 2024 marks the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings at Normandy.
The average age of a World War 2 veteran is now 99 years old, but their memories are as vivid today as they were on the day of battle. As their numbers dwindle, it is important they maintain their connections with the site where so many of their countrymen were lost and share their stories and experiences with their comrades, the local population and the wider world.
Each year, the Spirit of Normandy Trust organises trips for veterans and war widows to the Annual Normandy Memorial Service, which allows D-Day veterans to make a five-day pilgrimage to France. There, they will visit the battle sites, war graves, and the stunning new Normandy memorial at Ver sur Mer, as well as meeting local dignitaries and schoolchildren.
